A new way to make ammonia, one of the world's most important chemicals, used in fertilisers and clean fuels, without the huge energy cost and carbon emissions of conventional methods. Using a specially designed electrochemical reactor, the process harnesses electricity to pull nitrogen and hydrogen and convert it into ammonia at room temperature and pressure. A metal-based chemistry acts as the key intermediary, enabling a reaction that has historically required extreme industrial conditions. By operating at moderate temperatures and atmospheric pressure, and leveraging renewable electricity, we provide a decentralized, low-carbon alternative. This approach significantly reduces the environmental footprint of ammonia synthesis, paving the way for a greener, localized chemical production future.
